Portsmouth Christian Academy Young Composers Recordings!

On January 25, 2017 Portsmouth Christian Academy in Dover, NH had 19 original compositions created in Ms. Jessica Gardner’s music class recorded by members of the Western European Symphony Orchestra in Lisbon, Portugal. The performance video was screened for the entire PCA community at a viewing event. Every student grappled with the fundamentals of music – melody, harmony, form, rhythm – to create a unique, musical expression. Congratulations to Ms. Gardner and all of the student composers on their hard work throughout the year that led to these fantastic recordings!

“As a middle school teacher at Portsmouth Christian Academy of Dover, NH, I was looking for a challenging and innovative composition curriculum to add to our already diverse set of Fine Arts course offerings. I stumbled upon YCIW almost by chance, brainstorming with local colleagues about any course idea I could develop for my students, that incorporated technology and composition in a single curriculum. I found the YCIW course fees to be very affordable for what was being provided. Needless to say that YCIW has been a God-send. Not only does this course offer a fully built-in online course, with every lesson already available, it enables students who have no or minimal musical knowledge to compose at a high-level. Beyond that, YCIW has provided my students the priceless opportunity to collaborate on a global level, working with composer mentors in NYC, and the Western European Orchestra out of Lisbon, Portugal. If you are looking for a 21rst century curriculum which embodies creativity, innovation, STEAM, and global thinking, look no further…you found it right here!”Ms. Jessica Gardner, teacher
