Workshop 12 at the Bronx Charter School for the Arts

June 19, 2013

On June 19th the Young Composers & Improvisors Workshop at LREI in collaboration with the Bronx Charter School for the Arts held a young composers concert featuring 22 4th and 5th grade pieces!  Our artists-in-residence the Metropolis Ensemble under the direction of Andrew Cyr performed for the entire Bronx Arts school community.  The young composers were beaming with pride as the audience enjoyed each piece! We spoke with the students about how hearing their pieces can be used as a point of reflection to help inform future musical explorations and compositions.  Congratulations to Bronx Arts music teacher Jon Panikkar for doing a wonderful job with his students!  We look forward to running the workshop again next year.

Coming soon will be recordings and videos of every piece…
